RampRage Skate Jam
It’s no secret that the eastern regions of the UK hold some real talent in extreme sports and it was certainly on show today! Even before 1 O’clock there were bangers left right and centre, it’s clear that there’s a drive to perform here. Notable skaters in attendance included Mikey Joyce and young gun Luke Schoonbrood and both skated with flare, style and passion. Although no organisation of events was set in stone there were many prizes up for grabs at various points in the forms of T-shirts and decks. The attitude about the event was most definitely ‘Go big or go home’ with attempts at huge transfers and airs being thrown as easily as a small ollie. The day was a complete success and I’m sure that Ramprage look forward to the next one. Good vibes, good people, good day!
Review – Autobahn Nexus Wheels
I have had my Autobahn wheels since the beginning of September and I’ve skated a vast amount since then and am still using them now. I have no flat spots, and for £19.99 I would not expect a lot – even though Autobahn are a specialist wheel company, but I am still really impressed with what I have got from these wheels. They are also really good if you are on a budget. They are hard and have a nice feel to them when you land a trick. Although I have had no flat spots in specific points, the wheels have worn down quite a lot (overall starting at 53mm) and now they are probably less than 50mm. I bought these wheels from ‘skateboards of choice’ and I was really happy with the service they provided. I selected the “within 3 working days” delivery option and the wheels were with me within only 2 days. I will definitely be buying from skateboards of choice again but next time i think i will be spending a little bit more money on wheels that wear down slower.

RampRage Colchester Review
Yet another dreary January day is riddled with rain and disappointment. It’s times like these that make skating, riding, scootering or inlining a seldom pleasure. There is relief from the depression, though, and it comes in the form of indoor skateparks.
After taking the train from Ipswich to Colchester and transferring over to the second station, Kieran and I found ourselves in the heart of the town, and in seek of Colchester’s latest extreme sports facility; RampRage. We took a few turns and by using the signposts for Rollerworld (A nearby rollerskating area) we eventually found ourselves at the doors of the park. Upon walking in, we instantly felt at home – the staff were friendly and the aesthetics of the place were impressive. After paying the session fee of £8 we jumped straight in and started using the park. The ramps are extremely well built and the variety of style within the equipment gives every type of person something to enjoy. I would say, though, that the park is possibly suited to the more advanced rider, and that the ramps are a little bit slippy for skaters, but it’s easy to adapt to the feeling. Upstairs from the skatepark is a balcony type area that features a few seats and a vending machine, along with a DJ setup and a pool table for a quick break from skating or riding.
Overall then, RampRage has definitely muscled it’s way straight to the top and is a true contender with the rest of the indoor skateparks in the UK. If you’re able to, drop in and have a sesh – it’s worth it!
